FAMILIES in Cherrybrook will celebrate their first open air family movie night in March following a Hornsby Council-led community partnership.
The partnership model was proposed by Councillor Bruce Mills last year and will see the council work in conjunction with John Purchase Public School and 1st Cherrybrook Scout Group.
Under the model the council will provide financial support and advice, while community groups are responsible for organising all other aspects of delivering the movie night and can use the event as a fund raising or awareness opportunity.
Cr Mills said the model is a great way for school students and scouts to become involved in event promotion.
"I championed community partnerships model because it enable the council to deliver more movie events while helping build up our local community groups," he said. "It's definitely a win-win for Cherrybrook residents."
The free movie night will be staged on March 8 at Cherrybrook's new sporting complex behind John Purchase Public School.
Organisers will select a G or PG rated film next month.
