THE community is invited to attend the 125-year celebrations of Christ Church Anglican at Kenthurst.
A celebratory service will be held on Saturday at 9am where guests can look at old photos and memorabilia on display.
Special guests of the church will also be interviewed.
Built in 1886 the first church building was demolished in 1979 after a problem with white ants and now services are held in the new church, an extended and refurbished church hall.
It's described as the backbone of Kenthurst and Pastor Cameron Griffiths said the church has a rich family history dating back to the fore-fathers of Kenthurst. The church and rectory's land was donated by P.J. Wrench and was originally part of one of Australia's largest orange orchards. These oranges are featured in the church's stained-glass windows which were transferred to the new church.
The granddaughter of Mr Wench, Robyn Cross, 65, has attended the church since being baptised as a baby. She wed her husband Jim in the old church. "Christ Church Kenthurst is a great place for people of all ages and we're looking forward to more families," Mr Griffiths said.
