AFTER a teary end to her time in The X Factor Australia last week, Castle Hill singer Christina Parie gave an exclusive local interview to the News to share her thoughts on the "crazy" experience of a lifetime.
The 15-year-old, who is the lead singer of five-piece band Losing Sight, said the competition was an "eye-opener on the business side of things".
"I had a great time and learned to trust the people I work with," the Mount St Benedict College student said.
"Kelly Clarkson gave me the best advice: "Never take advice from anyone you wouldn't trade places with".
For last week's dance theme night in The X Factor, she confessed she was worried about singing When Love Takes Over.
"It's totally out of my genre but I practised a lot and had fun with it."
All four judges and the crowd loved her performance, which started with her playing on the keyboard.
But the public voted her and Reece Mastin in the bottom two, which resulted in all judges but her mentor Mel B deciding to send her home.
When asked what she thought went wrong, she simply said things happen for a reason.
"Maybe people thought I was being safe, but there is no point in dwelling in the past," she said.
"Now I want to focus on recording an album, getting my songs out there to let everyone know what I'm all about and hopefully try to break into the American market," she said.
The moment she most enjoyed since she auditioned in April was her performance of Zombie (by The Cranberries) in the fourth live show.
"I had full creative control with that performance and stripped back the song [she sang acoustically] and it felt like I was playing at the pub," Christina said.
There are now five singers left in the competition, which is on Mondays and Tuesdays at 7.30pm on Channel 7.
