Former Castle Hill Public School building set alight

12 May, 2010 01:36 PM
A double-storey brick building on the former site of Castle Hill Public School was destroyed by a fire on Thursday morning.

Police went to the site on the corner of Showground Road and Pennant Street at 12.47am and found the building on fire.

Five fire brigade trucks were called but there was already extensive damage.

The buildings are owned by Queensland Investment Corporation and are marked for re-development. Detectives believe the fire was deliberately lit and have asked for witnesses, particularly those who live in Castle Grand, to call 9680 5399.
