HOMICIDE investigators handling the case of a Kellyville man who was shot in the face in 2006 confirm they are investigating suspects.
Masoud Faroughi, 33, was killed on February 25 in the doorway of his home in Patya Circuit after answering the door bell.
Castle Hill police said there were two men standing at the doorway when Mr Faroughi opened the door. They shot him once in the head and once in the chest after a short conversation.
A NSW Homicide spokesman said the case is still ongoing and an inquest would be put before Westmead Coroner Carl Melanovic soon.
He would not confirm or deny the theory that Mr Faroughi was somehow involved with a bikie gang.
``That information has been previously reported to us and we are aware of it,'' he said.
Mr Faroughi was a family man and left behind a wife and an eight-year-old son. The academic and Iranian immigrant had just completed his PhD in industrial chemistry and worked as a taxi driver for income while studying.
On the night of Mr Faroughi's death, residents told police they saw the two men who shot him speeding away in a blue and silver four-wheel-drive.
Neighbours tried to resuscitate Mr Faroughi, as did ambulance drivers who arrived soon after the shooting.
He died at the scene.
Detectives in Strikeforce Florian are still conducting investigations.
