I WONDER: have the executives of Hillsbus ever travelled on a 610 bus to the city on a Friday or Saturday night?
It's such a great way to start a night out.
On Friday, October 16, I had the misfortune of taking the 8.26pm from Castle Hill.
It was like a travelling bar: young blokes (and girls) openly drinking alcohol on the bus, yelling and screaming.
The bus was packed as usual.
There was a full standing load, right up to the front windscreen.
I've seen this before, but this time the journey sank to new depths when, just before Lane Cove, two half-tanked fellows convinced the driver to pull over so they could relieve themselves.
Yes, there they were, urinating behind a bus shelter in full view of everyone on the bus.
You can't blame the driver.
The driver can't argue with a bus-load of drunks.
What they need is management support or police on board to stamp out drinking and anti-social behaviour.
To cap it off, as we approached the city the guy behind me started to feel he was going to throw up.
``Just hang on we are almost there,'' his mates bellowed, ``then you can go behind a tree at Wynyard.''
Public transport ... a great way to travel.
