Little A champion takes home silver

CHERRYBROOK Little Athletics member Kyle Ekstrom, of Kellyville, is still buzzing from excitement after winning silver in the under-9s division at the State Multi Championships in Lismore.

Last year, he placed ninth. In Lismore, Kyle clocked personal best times for the 100metres and 800m (15.3seconds and 2minutes57seconds respectively). He came second in the hurdles with a personal best of 10.6seconds, and in the discus and shot put he finished second (24metres) and fourth (6.3metres).

The long-jump event was his only disappointment; he placed equal eighth with a 3.34-metre jump.

Regardless, parents George and Jodie were thrilled with his efforts.

``Kyle not only made his mum, dad and sister [Tiarne] proud but all of Cherrybrook Little Athletics and in particular his coaches,'' George said.

Little sister Tiarne recorded five personal best times and finished seventh overall in the under-7s.
