A double demerit road blitz over the festive period saw Castle Hill Police breath test up to 4668 people.
Hills Highway Patrol supervisor Robert Toynton said it was encouraging to see only six drink driving arrests.
‘‘The message is starting to get through not to drink drive on our roads,’’ Sergeant Toynton said.
‘‘We were happy with some of the statistics but disappointed to see 116 speeding infringements issued.’’
On December 29 police caught a Kellyville man driving 45km/h over the speed limit on Samantha Riley Drive, Kellyville.
He had his licence suspended for six months under double demerit rules and was fined $2150.
