Man fined after fire in Middle Dural

A Middle Dural man has been fined for breaching the total fire ban yesterday.

Police said emergency services were called to a property on the Old Northern Road at Middle Dural after reports of a fire about 9am.

Rural Fire Service volunteers quickly put out the blaze while police spoke with a 57-year-old man at the property.

He was fined $1100 for “Fail to Comply with Minister – Total Fire Ban Period”

Strike Force Tronto continues to co-ordinate the investigative response to deliberately-lit bushfires, with detectives from Property Crime Squad’s Arson Unit working closely with local police.

As part of Strike Force Tronto, police are continuing to overtly and covertly target known or suspected bushfire arsonists in their communities, and officers also work in close consultation with investigators from the Rural Fire Service and Fire & Rescue NSW.

Police asked the community to assist them by reporting any suspicious behaviour.
