"We are being inundated with calls today, but there are no major fires — just small ones," Fire and Rescue NSW's media officer, Superintendent Ian Krimmer, said.
He said there wasn't time enough to enter into specifics, so he summed up.
"We have had dozens and dozens of automatic fire alarms being set off, several car fires, smoking power boxes, and small outbreaks of grass fires," he said.
"We have all our units attending."
