Former Noiseworks frontman to lead Australia Day celebrations in The Hills

FORMER INXS and Noiseworks frontman Jon Stevens will lead the Australia Day celebrations at Balcombe Heights, Baulkham Hills.

Stevens was born and raised in New Zealand but crossed the ditch and became an Australian citizen.

He will perform some of his classics on the night, supported by local band Breakaway.

Children will be entertained by the Dress up Oz competition, Bluey the Kangaroo show, the Ronald McDonald show, free rides and showbags.

Enjoy a range of food stalls on the night and a massive fireworks display at 9pm.

"There's no better way to spend our national day than to have some fun with friends and neighbours, meet new people and enjoy the fireworks finale with your family," Hills mayor Dr Michelle Byrne said.

The day will end with an affirmation ceremony, where residents can affirm their allegiance to Australia by making a short statement based on part of the Australian Citizenship Pledge.

Limited on-site parking is available.

Details: Balcombe Heights Estate, 92 Seven Hills Road, Baulkham Hills, 4pm to 9pm.

Residents can honour those fallen men and women who served in Australia's armed forces at Castlebrook Memorial Park at Rouse Hill.

Commemorations and service runs from 7am to 9am.

Family service manager John Lazanas said as the flags were being placed, a parade of pipers and drummers would circle the park.
