HILLS Brumbies junior Kyah Simon was the star of the W-League final last month after scoring a goal and contributing an assist in Sydney FC's 3-1 Championship win against Melbourne Victory.
As team captain Simon showed plenty of class to help guide her young in-experienced teammates.
Simon's confidence and attacking play rubbed off on her teammates when Nicola Bolger opened the scoring in the 25th minute.
The lead was short-lived. Petra Larsson scored with a superb free kick for Melbourne Victory that bounced in off the post.
In the second-half, Simon helped restore Sydney's lead after picking out Sam Kerr with a perfectly weighted cross.
Victory goalkeeper Brianna Davey kept her team in the contest with two fine saves to deny Simon a goal.
With five minutes remaining Simon made no mistake from the spot to score her sixth goal for the season.
Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Simon said "there was no better feeling" after winning the grand final.
"It shows how much our hard work and dedication has paid off," Simon said.
"I set a goal to score a hat-trick today. I didn't do that but you can't always get what you want," she
Hills junior Chloe Logarzo also impressed in the final.
She played 85 minutes before being substituted after Sydney's third goal.
