MORE than 30 parks, businesses and schools in The Hills have been registered as designated sites for Clean Up Australia Day.
Volunteers include West Pennant Hills resident Tracey Hourd, a Clean Up Australia Day team captain with more than 10 years of service to the initiative.
“Through my involvement with the First Castle Hill Scout Group, we try and get as many young residents to participate in Clean Up Australia Day as possible,” Ms Hourd said.
“Instilling environmental awareness into children at a young age will teach them to act responsibility in our natural environment.”
Business Clean Up Day is Tuesday, February 26, followed by Schools Clean Up Day on Friday, March 1 and Community Clean Up Day on Sunday, March 3.
“Like many local government areas in Australia, we do have to fight the scourge of illegal waste dumping, and luckily we have so many dedicated volunteers who are happy to help,’’ Hills mayor Dr Michelle Byrne said.
