Navy life suits Baulkham Hills boy

BAULKHAM Hills local Philip Johnston has notched up an impressive list of achievements since joining the navy less than two years ago.

He’s completed a number of demanding courses to become a combat systems operator, been promoted, and become a qualified rigid hulled inflatable boat driver.

He is currently on his second overseas deployment.

Mr Johnston joined the navy in 2009 after attending Model Farms High School.

He was also an active member of the Winston Hills Little Athletics Club.

Mr Johnston said he was attracted to the job stability, regular pay and ‘‘not having to worry about being made redundant at any moment’’.

‘‘Navy appealed most to me because the opportunities for travel were better than the other services,’’ he said.
