The Greeks to celebrate in Cherrybrook

EXPERIENCE Greek flair and flavours without travelling all the way to the Mediterranean at the third annual Hornsby Greek Festival. 

The Greek Festival will open from 11am at Greenway Park (in the baseball field) in Cherrybrook on Sunday, March 10, and invites lovers of all things Greek as well as local residents to sample Greek food from every region, drink wine and enjoy traditional entertainment.  

Festival committee member Anne Rassios said the festival celebrates good food, music, wine, dance and the Greek culture.

‘‘We have many Greek’s who are scattered around different suburbs,’’ she said. 

‘‘It’s about bringing together Greek’s and the wider community to celebrate with Greek food, wine and lots of dancing.

‘‘People to the festival will have the opportunity to see what Greek culture has to offer.’’

The Greek Live Band will open the festival and will provide visitors with a truly Greek and Mediterranean experience. 

The Cherrybrook Technology High School Band along with other skilled children will entertain visitors with there musical repertoire. 

The Greek folk dancers are inviting onlookers to link arms and join in for the popular Zorba dance.

Food will take the centre stage, with outdoor markets available to try Greek cuisine such as giro, souvlaki, pastitsio and many other tasty treats.

The Greek arts and crafts boutiques are open for shoppers to find a hidden Mediterranean treasure. 

Children have not been forgotten in the festivities, there will be amusement rides suited for all ages.
