The 127th Castle Hill Show is on until Sunday at the historic Castle Hill Showground.
Organisers say a major drawcard of this year’s show will be the extreme stunt group The Big Air School who will be demonstrating the action sports of skateboarding, BMXing and parkour — where athletes climb, jump, run, balance, anything, to move between places.
There will also be lessons, so bring your bikes and boards to test on the halfpipe.
The stunt group will be at the show on Saturday and Sunday.
Traditionalists can wander over to the Main Arena on Saturday for the ute muster and other more rural activities, such as wood chopping, barrel races, mini trots, show jumping and heavy horses.
‘‘We have five group finals of junior judging competitions on Saturday in grains, cattle, cattle paraders, meat sheep and fleece judging,’’ show secretary Lyne Fuller said.
‘‘In the paraders we often have over 150 entrants from schools throughout the metropolitan area hoping to qualify and move on to the Royal Easter Show and state finals.’’
There will also be exhibitions in the following categories: alpaca, apiculture, art, cats, cattle, craft, children’s art, dogs, donkeys, goats, horses, horticulture, paper and fibre, photography, pigeons, poultry, rabbits, schools, and sheep.
‘‘Our main aim is to promote the development of agricultural, pastoral, horticultural, industrial, educational and cultural interests and activities of Castle Hill and surrounding districts,’’ Ms Fuller said.
Other features of the show include Professor Wallace’s Puppet Theatre, roving entertainers, an animal nursery, children’s arts and crafts, and a CareFlight Helicopter Rescue Simulator.
Local youth bands and dance crews will perform in the evenings.
Watch out for Next Year Falls, Keys to the Kingdom, HAM Radio, and After Thirteen, among others.
Shuttle buses will be available to take youth to the Australian Hotel and Brewery and Hillside Tavern.
