ABOUT 20,000 people gathered on Castle Hill Showground over the weekend for the 127th Castle Hill Show, experiencing weather that show organiser Lyne Fuller could only describe as ‘‘magical’’.
So magical that some of the show jumpers had given up competing at Tamworth to be at Castle Hill, she said.
Ms Fuller said this was on account of the condition of the arena.
‘‘We have one of the best,’’ she said.
The show had all of the usual attractions: alpaca, apiculture, art, cats, cattle, craft, children’s art, dogs, goats, horses, horticulture, paper and fibre, photography, pigeons, poultry, rabbits, schools, and sheep exhibits.

It also had a new trackless train which met visitors at the gate and took them to the far end of the showground to the sheep, pigeon, dog and rabbit sections — sections sometimes overlooked because of their distance from the gate.
The extreme stunts of The Big Air Show were another crowd-pleaser, with athletes navigating the ramps on their skateboards, BMXs and even with their bodies, parkour-style.
