While the Hills councillors were united on their support to rename Wrights Road Reserve, Kellyville to Centenary of ANZAC Reserve, not everyone is in agreement.
The councillors have received two submissions against the February 26 decision."They're saying to council they don't want this name change," Cr Alan Haselden said.
"Regardless of how strong their support of Anzac Day traditions, they feel this [reserve] is not an appropriate venue to be renamed."
Cr Haselden said the second submission expressed concern residents were not consulted, but he disagreed.
"We're consulting by the fact we're publicly advertising the proposal," he said.
He said the Geographical Names Board and Department of Veterans Affairs would have the final word.
The name was a suggestion of the Castle Hill RSL Sub-Branch in the lead-up to the 100th anniversary of the Anzac campaign, in 2014.
The council and the sub-branch are building a war memorial at Wrights Road Community Centre, within the reserve.
The remembrance stone and plaques at Arthur Whitling Park war memorial were removed on March 6 and stored in the council depot where they will be refurbished before being placed at Kellyville.
The war memorial at Arthur Whitling Park, Castle Hill is officially closed.
