Baulkham Hills school pupils will be radio stars

Mathew Pearce Public School parents and pupils will turn up bright and early —  by 6am to be precise — when 2UE’s breakfast show is broadcast live from the school on Friday, May 17.

The early start is for the more than 60 pupils in the school’s senior band who will perform live after the show’s 6.30am news bulletin.

The Baulkham Hills school is the third to be visited by 2UE breakfast hosts Ian ‘‘Dicko’’ Dickson and Sarah Morice as part a year-long initiative by the station to engage with local schools.

Principal Kim Fawcett said a parent had nominated the school for the opportunity.

‘‘The students are excited,’’ she said.

‘‘It’s a big ask for the parents to be here so early but they’re very dedicated.

‘‘Our community supports our school really well.’’

IGA will provide breakfast for 1000 people and The Voice season one favourite, Rachael Leahcar, will perform five tracks on the morning.

The broadcast is from 5.30am to 8.30am. Tune in: 954 AM.
