Dawn Trethowan knows hospitality.
The Kenthurst resident, who studied at The Hills College TAFE, has received the institute’s Barrington Raymund Roberts Scholarship for hospitality industry training.
Ms Trethowan said she was very excited to receive the award which she will use for further training.
“I hope to start with the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and then move on to the mentoring course,” she said.
“Both courses will give me the framework to be a mentor and perhaps a part-time teacher running workshops for students to assist them with their studies.
“The teachers who went out of their way [to help] left an indelible imprint on me and I’d like to do that for others.”
TAFE Western Sydney Institute director Susan Hartigan said Ms Trethowan would be a great influence on future hospitality leaders.
“Dawn is enthusiastic about learning, tenacious in gaining new skills and committed to serving others through hospitality,’’ she said.
‘‘Her performance at TAFE has been outstanding, having achieved the unprecedented result of coming first in the Certificates III and IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Hospitality.
“Dawn is an inspiration and will be a great mentor to others.’’
