Police found an elaborate hydroponic setup and cannabis plants with an estimated potential street value of $1.25 million at Cherrybrook on Tuesday.
A man, 41, was arrested at the house on New Line Road at 5.20pm, while officers from Operation Tassie executed a search warrant.
More than 250 cannabis plants were found on two levels of the house in what police described as a ‘‘large sophisticated hydroponic cannabis setup’’.
Police also discovered an illegal electricity diversion.
The man was arrested and taken to Hornsby police station where he was charged with enhanced indoor cultivation (large commercial), use of electricity without authority and interfering with network operators.
He was refused bail and is expected to appear in Hornsby Local Court today.
Operation Tassie is made up of officers from the Regional Enforcement Squad at Gordon, which investigates cannabis cultivation in the North West Metropolitan Region.
