Police want to speak to two men following the robbery of a Subway store on Old Northern Road, Dural, on Tuesday at 9pm.
Police said two men entered the business and, while while one kept watch, the other threatened a male staff member from Granville, 25, with a knife.
The men left the business with an amount of money and were last seen running south.
No-one was injured in the incident.
Police are looking to speak with two men who may be able to help with their inquiries.
One man is described as aged in his late teens with a thin to medium build.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing loose, dark clothing, a chequered flannelette jacket and a cloth over his face.
The second man’s face was also covered but there was no further description.
Investigations are continuing and police are reviewing security footage from the store and surrounding businesses.

A North Rocks worker, 43, lost three fingers and a portion of his left hand on Monday while operating heavy machinery at 3.45pm.
The Oakhurst man, who works at building company Coleman & Fairburn, told police he was trying to use a rod to remove a blockage from a machine with teeth-like gears.
He said the rod was caught and it spun with the machine, hitting his hand and fingers.
The man was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
The incident is being investigated by WorkCover Authority of NSW.
Car set alight
A North Rocks man’s car was set on fire on Loyalty Road on Monday night.
Police said between 7.30pm on Monday and 9am on Tuesday the driver side window of a Toyota Hilux parked was smashed outside a block of units.
Two bottles containing an unidentified accelerant were thrown at the car and ignited, police said. The fire extinguished itself.
Don’t leave ladders around
Police are warning residents to secure ladders or any other equipment that may be used to reach a second-storey window after an attempted break-in in West Pennant Hills between Saturday and Monday.
Police said a ladder was taken from the backyard of a house in Roma Court and used to access the second floor and remove a flyscreen. The window was locked.
Car park theft
An Apple iPhone and a sports bag with a combined value of $800 were stolen from a silver Kia Rio sedan parked at Stockland Mall on Monday between 7.55am and 8.45pm.
Police are reviewing security footage.
