We meet with our junior sportsperson of the week Tyrone Albertyn from Castle Hill. He is a swimmer and trains with the Dolphins at C2K at Castle Hill RSL.
1. What’s your favorite sport?
Swimming is my favourite sport. I started taking swimming lessons when I was five. I also like playing rugby union, but that is mainly to keep fit and build my leg strength.
2. How often do you play/practice?
For swimming, I train four times a week, and attend at least one racing meet a month. Sometimes there may be three meets in a month. I also participate in my Club Meets almost every Friday night.
3. Whats your greatest achievement so far?
This is my first year back in Australia after living in Singapore. Doing very well was not my intention; I just wanted to get back into it, and worry about main competitions later.
Anyway, I ended making it into the NSW PSSA Team to compete in the Schools Nationals in Adelaide in September. I have also just received a gold star award in the NSW swimming junior excellence program.
4. What do you hope to achieve?
My immediate goal is to make a top 5 finish in Adelaide. Later, I hope to make it to the World Championships, and if I do really well, maybe the Olympics. Why not?
