Police are searching for a man following an attack on a 76-year-old business owner during a robbery at Toongabbie late last year.
He has been described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged 45 to 50, 175cm tall, solid build, with a tanned complexion, brown eyes, brown and grey hair with a receding hair line, and tattoos on the upper area of both arms.
Police said the elderly victim was confronted by three masked men in his Aurelia Street home at about 6.30am on October 28, 2012.
He was punched and fell to the floor and the men demanded money.
They then tied his hands and dragged him to his bedroom where he was placed in a chair and repeatedly punched.
The man’s legs were bound to the chair and a beanie was also pulled over his eyes.
One of the men then found the victim’s wallet and removed a sum of cash.
The victim was repeatedly threatened by the trio who later obtained keys to a nearby shop and removed a sum of cash.
The victim eventually freed himself from the chair and alerted police.
Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Merrylands Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
