BROOKE McGlynn's triple-threat approach has landed her a place in this year's Crestwood Idol grand final this Sunday at Crestwood Fair.
"When I get the shakes it's easier to be moving around and acting it out," said Brooke, of Kellyville.
She sang Pulled from the musical comedy The Addams Family and now has a chance to win the overall prize of an acoustic guitar and tuition to the value of $600 donated by Idol sponsor, The Hills Shire Music School. Senior Idol (age category over 13) will win $200, as will the Junior Idol (age category 12 and under). Runners-up will get $100.
"I've been dancing on and off for three years and singing for five years," said Brooke, a year 7 student at William Clarke College. "I'm a drama queen and a natural actor really. I love anything to do with being on stage."
Now in its sixth year the quest provides a chance for rising singers to get performance and stage experience.
"The talent at the heats at Castle Towers these past weekends was exceptional," organiser Kate Hawkins said.
Sunday's fair features plenty of free entertainment on the main stage, sport and leisure activities, demonstrations, an emergency-services display, carnival rides, market stalls, food, fireworks and the Crestwood Idol grand final.
The fair runs from 11am to 7.30pm at Crestwood Oval, on the corner of Peel Road and Chapel Lane at Baulkham Hills.
