Wine sale for charity
The Inner Wheel Club of Norwest will hold a public auction of wine from the private collection of the late Mark Kelly. The auction is at 6.30pm on Saturday at Castle Hill RSL Club, in the Sovereign Room.

Author to visit
Author Fiona McIntosh will share the inspiration behind her novel The Lavender Keeper, as part of "Get Reading!" at Castle Hill Library on Wednesday at 7pm. McIntosh will talk about her novel which is set during the Nazi occupation of France.

Pupils in primary schools across Baulkham Hills will learn how to stay safe around electricity as part of this week's Electricity Safety Week. Baulkham Hills MP David Elliott said the program was being presented by the three state-owned electricity distributors - Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy - to teach students about electricity. Fun run fund-raiser
Tallowood School in Kellyville held an adidas School Fun Run and raised $2599. The event helps schools and community groups to raise funding while encouraging students to keep fit. John Purchase Public School pupils in Cherrybrook will hold an adidas School Fun-Run on September 18.

Hornsby Council is giving out free native plants on Saturday, September 21, from 1pm to 3pm, at Galston Reserve, which is next to the Galston Aquatic Centre.
The plants on offer are specially grown for certain areas of the shire so they will be confined to residents of Arcadia, Berilee, Canoelands, Dural, Fiddletown, Forest Glen, Galston, Glenorie, Laughtondale, Lower Hawkesbury, Maroota, Middle Dural, Singletons Mill and Wisemans Ferry.
