Interstate firefighting crews were treated to a hearty meal and drinks at the Castle Hill RSL Club on Tuesday before driving to the bushfires across the state.
The club’s car park was filled with fire trucks as the crews were briefed before departing to join the largest firefighting force in NSW history overnight.
Statewide more than 3000 firefighters will be dispatched on Wednesday with 90 aircraft on standby.
The club’s group marketing manager Melanie Morson said: ‘‘Many of our clubs in the Greater West are evacuation centres and are already looking after more RFS localised crews.’’
‘‘We are only 30 or 40 minutes away and supported all our friends in the West.’’
