Last Saturday Hills District Little Athletics Club ran a Pinkletics Carnival and raised $5000 for the McGrath Foundation.
‘‘It was a fantastic day, which showed the true meaning of giving with everyone getting involved from the committee and sponsors to parents and especially the athletes who all looked awesome in pink,’’ said club president Brooke Collins.
Former club athlete, life member and CEO of Little Athletics, Kerry O’Keefe, judged the best dressed age groups.
She thanked the club for its support, commitment and going all out in making the event a successful fund raising event.
Castle Hill RSL chairman Warren Glenny attended and donated $500 on behalf of the RSL board.
David Bachmayer from Bachmayer Orthodontics also donated $500.
Two young members of the club, Kieran and Tristan Morson, raised $500 from door knocking for three weeks.
To help raise funds for breast cancer research, parents baked pink cakes and the club sold limited edition pink hats, training shirts, water bottles and wet bags, along with face painting, pink hair spray, pink shoe laces, pink slushies and pink zinc.
Mr Collins thanked the club committee who did a great job in promoting and supporting the day.
‘‘Especially our life member Dennis Coker who spent two days marking out the track in pink,’’ he said.
‘‘And after such a successful day, the club plans do it all again next year with more exciting things in store, along with setting a new fund raising target in 2014 of $10,000.’’
