Hills councillors' car wash fund-raiser tomorrow

THE Hills mayor Michelle Byrne and her councillor colleagues will roll up their sleeves to wash cars at Castle Hill Showground this Saturday.

Money raised from the carwash and a sausage sizzle will go towards the Salvation Army’s Bushfire Appeal.

Cr Byrne proposed the charity car wash in a mayoral minute at The Hills Council's November 12 meeting and the idea was unanimously supported.

"Here in The Hills we know too well that it could have been us," Cr Byrne said with reference to the bushfires which destroyed more than 200 homes in Blue Mountains in October.

She said while the fires may no longer be on the front of the papers, there are still people out there who are trying to rebuild their lives after the recent devastating fires.

"I encourage residents to come along and get their car washed by the mayor," Cr Byrne said.

There will also be free entertainment.

■ Get your car washed by The Hills councillors on Saturday, December 14, between 9am and 2pm, at Castle Hill Showground.
