Give a little
The Giving Trees are back at Stockland Baulkham Hills this Christmas.
The co-operative effort between Stockland and the Rotary Club of The Hills-Kellyville will bring happiness to families who have fallen on hard times.
There will be two Christmas trees near Woolworths filled with gift tags for boys and girls in specific age groups.
The children have been targeted by St Michael's Family Centre, Wesley Dalmar Family Support and the Salvation Army.
People select a tag and return to the centre management office with the tag and an appropriate gift (not wrapped).
Rotarians will then deliver the gifts to the charities.
Retreat wins gold
Billabong Retreat in Maraylya won two gold medals at the NSW Tourism awards dinner and ceremony.
The 18-bed eco-retreat won the first Health and Wellbeing Tourism Award and the Unique Accommodation Award.
"This is a fantastic recognition for all the hard work myself and the team have put into building this business from nothing in the last few years," owner Paul von Bergen said.
Read a book, kids
Children can take part in The Hills Shire Library's summer reading club.
The council's five libraries will run the club until January 31 for children aged 5 to 14.
Children will be given a secret agent log which will be stamped each time they visit the library and borrow a book.
