Baulkham Hills Venturers receive Queen's Scout Award

FOUR Venturers from 2nd Baulkham Hills Scout Group received their Queen's Scout Award at Bundilla Scout Camp, Winston Hills.

Venturer Scouts Anton Harris, from Redfield College, and Alice Carney, Jordan Longmuir and Anna Slater, from Rouse Hill Anglican College, all achieved the award while also studying for their HSC.

The four were encouraged and supported by leaders Mick Fry and Joanne Tyler, who took three of them to Vanuatu where they taught local scouts how to abseil and promoted scouting for girls.

In return, the Scouts learned about various cultures.

The group completed a range of activities to achieve their award — including helping out at local Scout groups, scuba diving, a course in Wagga Wagga learning about the environment, performing in musicals, learning to drive, etc.

Jordan helped organise the Hills Relay for Life in which they all participated to raise funds for cancer.
