"We believe that we should be part of the community, and being involved is being part of the community," shop owner Beven Callaghan said.

He donates bikes to be used as prizes during the charity ride, and always has a support vehicle at the event to help riders with emergencies.

"Our on-site mechanic on the day will be there to assist with last-minute unexpected problems, but will not have time to do major adjustments," Mr Callaghan said.

"We're also offering a $69 special [cycle] service for all the people going in the ride. We suggest riders book early for this to avoid disappointment."

Mr Callaghan offered this advice to riders:

■ Ensure your helmet is fitted safely, tyres are pumped and go for a pre-ride before the day; and

■ Check your seat height to avoid sore bottoms and knees, and ensure wrist and arms are at the right angle to avoid sore wrists, numbness and sore shoulders.

‘‘Make sure you drink as you ride,’’ Mr Callaghan added.

‘‘If you feel light-headed or not well, stop, sit, rest and remember walking eases the muscles and the mind.

‘‘Above all, enjoy your day. Think of the joy you are providing with your donation [towards the event].’’

For those yet to buy their bikes, the Bike Shop has a special offer.

Buy your bike through the shop between February and March and they are offering a 15per cent discount for all bikes and accessories purchased at the same time.
