Kellyville Anglican Church welcomes new pastor

Reverend Mike Heptonstall has been welcomed as the new senior pastor at Kellyville Anglican Church.

He succeeds Rev Ross Hathway who moved to a new parish in North Goulburn in 2013 after more than 10 years at Kellyville.

The church has been part of the local community since the 1800’s and moved to its current site on President Road in 2003.

From small beginnings the church now serves a parish of over 20,000 people.

The Anglican Bishop for Western Sydney, Ivan Lee, said: ‘‘Kellyville Church plays an important role in our ministry to this growing area of Sydney.

‘‘With all the growth in population we have seen over the last 20 years, and what we expect to see in the coming 20 or more years, it is crucial for the church to continue to grow to meet the needs of Kellyville and beyond.’’

‘‘Mike comes to us from St Matthew’s Church, Manly where he was an integral part of a large and vibrant church on The Corso,’’ he said.

‘‘We look forward to God’s people growing in Kellyville under his leadership in the years to come.’’

Reverend Heptonstall was welcomed on January 29 to Kellyville by Mitchell MP Alex Hawke, Castle Hill MP Dominic Perottett, and the Reverend Geoff Bates who co-ordinates Anglican Ministry in north west Sydney.

Reverend Heptonstall said he is excited by the prospect of working with the Kellyville community.

‘‘We can’t wait to be part of the great things God is doing in The Hills through Kellyville Anglican Church and the other Christian churches in our region, as the gospel continues to go out and people turn to Jesus,’’ he said. Details: 96296255, office@kellyville.anglican.asn.au.
