VIDEO: Hills MPs ask us to brush up on the road rules

THIS week is Road Rules Awareness Week and our local MPs, David Elliott and Dominic Perrottet, are urging motorists to take the opportunity to update themselves on the latest road rules.

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re travelling on Windsor Road or a quiet residential street, having a strong understanding of the road rules makes everyone in our community safer,’’ Mr Perrottet, the Member for Castle Hill, said.

The Centre for Road Safety has developed a series of online video animations for this year’s Road Rules Awareness week, beginning on February 24, which gives all road users an annual reminder to ensure they are up to speed with the road rules.

Brush up on your road rule knowledge by viewing the top 10 misunderstood road rules animations, below.

Mr Perrottet said the animations would help motorists understand how to negotiate a roundabout, the rules around school zones and how to legally use a mobile phone while driving.

“We are all responsible for our own safety on the roads as well as the safety of those around us,” he said.

Mr Elliott, the Member for Baulkham Hills, recommended motorists pick up a copy of the Top Ten Misunderstood Road Rules guide from the Castle Hill Roads and Maritime Services registry.

It can also be viewed online at roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au.
