DURAL and Round Corner Chamber of Commerce says its interest in an airport at Badgerys Creek lies with the future of Glenorie.
"If Glenorie were to become a regional economic and employment anchor then a Badgerys airport would have an enormous economic impact on Dural and surroundings areas," chamber president Rod Cuevas said.
Otherwise, the economic boost to the surrounding area was "negligible".
"Because there is no [defined] industry or business anchor up our way," Mr Cuevas said.
"Norwest is a business anchor but, unfortunately, it is to the south of us and too close to Parramatta and Blacktown.
"If it [the airport] were Richmond, we might have been more engaged."
Mr Cuevas said if the airport proceeded, infrastructure would need to be improved in terms of freight and passenger rail.
"The Northern Road across to Windsor and down to Campbelltown should be improved for faster and heavier traffic," he said.
"It would be ideal if this could be taken all the way through to Glenorie and then across to Berowra and complete the full outer traffic circle. Otherwise travel times between Glenorie through Dural and the M7 need to be improved."
