The St. Gabriel’s School pupils celebrated multicultural Australia during the school’s Harmony Day festivities on March 21.
They were encouraged to acknowledge and explore their own and each others’ cultural heritage.
During the day the pupils paraded in traditional costumes, joined in dances from across the globe, and observed a large display of photos, flags and posters.
Head of campus Dianne Hooke said the day is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the diversity found in today’s Australia.
“Not only do we have a lot of fun [but] the students gain a critical understanding of how Australians from all backgrounds enrich our nation,’’ she said.
St. Gabriel’s School is a co-educational Catholic primary school that caters for students with a range of disabilities.
