AGAINST the backdrop of the rising sun, a crowd of 10,000 converged on Kellyville’s war memorial last Anzac Day to remember the fallen.

This year’s service, the second at Kellyville’s Wrights Road Reserve, will be a dress rehearsal for Anzac Day 2015, the 100th anniversary of Anzac troops landing at Gallipoli.
Preparations are well under way with the The Hills Council’s local traffic committee approving a raft of recommendations to the council at its March 17 meeting, including that a temporary no right turn sign be installed at the Wrights and Windsor roads intersection for the dawn service.
Other recommendations were:
■ parking restrictions on both sides of Showground Road to President Road during the service;
■ parking restrictions in Morris Grove to be further discussed with Castle Hill RSL and William Clarke College; and
■ a shuttle bus service from Castle Hill Showground to Green Road, adjacent to Wrights Road Reserve.
The Castle Hill RSL sub-branch has approval to use land adjoining St Angels Primary in Harrington Avenue, Castle Hill, for car parking.
The service moved from Arthur Whitling Park last year to make way for the future Castle Hill train station.
