Hills basketball sharpshooter in final US uni season

KATE Oliver is entering her final season of basketball with the University of Southern California Trojans.

And the former Hills Hornet is entering it with her deft shooting ability now well recognised on the USC front court.

Oliver played in 25 games and started 15 in her first season with USC and recorded three double-doubles, the best a career-high 15 points and 10 rebounds against Duke University.

She also scored 12 points with a career-high 13 rebounds against Washington and 10 points and 10 rebounds at California.

Oliver scored in double figures in five games and had double-digit rebounds in four, earning a Pac-12 all-academic honourable mention.

The sharpshooter should have no trouble getting a hearty welcome from several clubs on her return home.

Meanwhile, home court proved no advantage when the Central Coast Crusaders beat the Hills Hornets men 86-81 in the Waratah Basketball League on Saturday.

The Hornets are two from four and are away to Sutherland this weekend.

By contrast, the Hornets women were dominant, thrashing the Sydney Comets away 75-43.
