Carlingford High School graduate Janice Wing Kwun Ko’s detailed pencil drawings have been selected for ARTEXPRESS.
The McGlade Art Gallery at the Australian Catholic University in Strathfield is the latest to show selected outstanding works of 2013 HSC visual arts students.
Janice’s coloured pencil drawing of people trapped in glass jars with different possessions will hang there.
Castle Hill High School graduate Vladislav Trofimov’s drawing was also selected for the McGlade exhibition which includes 30 artworks.
He used charcoal and chalk on paper after interviewing and photographing his subjects.
“My work explores their journeys,” he said.
“The simple use of charcoal and white chalk has enabled me to explore the everlasting impact that life experiences have on us all.
“Each line in their faces is symbolic of the road travelled through life, their eyes telling a story without words.”
The McGlade Art Gallery exhibition is on April 30 to May 24.
James Ruse Agricultural High School graduate Elaine Dong's work will also appear there.
Other works selected for ARTEXPRESS will be on display at venues across the state including The Art Gallery of NSW until May 11, and Sydney Olympic Park’s Armory Gallery, 10am-4pm daily until April 27.
Assembled by curator Danielle Gullotta, the works featured in the 10th ARTEXPRESS at the Armory exhibition are linked by the theme 'transition'.
