Not only did Castle Hill High School student Ravin Bandara get to shake the hands of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they visited.

He also got to chat with the royal couple at a special ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 promotion, held at the Sydney Opera House on April 16.

Ravin's mother, Dr Priyanka "Pri" Bandara, said organisers of the event wanted to showcase the cultural diversity of Australia and invited 14 children to represent the nations that will compete in the tournament, to be jointly held across Australia and New Zealand in February and March 2015.

Ravin was chosen to represent Sri Lankan-Australians.

Agriculture students from Muirfield High School, North Rocks, also had their own brush with royalty at the Royal Easter Show.

Students met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their visit to the show on April 18 — a day after they'd won a blue ribbon for their school’s entry in the District Exhibit.

The circus-themed Agriculture – the greatest show on earth display was assembled by 20 students from years 7 to 12.
