Baulkham Hills MP David Elliott paid tribute to veteran newspaper and television journalist Harry Potter who died last week after a long battle with cancer.
Mr Elliott said he met Mr Potter, who lived in The Hills, about 20 years ago when he worked at the NSW Police media unit and Mr Potter was the police reporter for Channel Ten.
"Harry's sense of humour, compassion for victims of crime and respect for our emergency services made him a popular member for the policing fraternity," he said.
"His impartiality during the Wood Royal Commission was appreciated by all parties."
Mr Potter became the first recipient of the Kennedy Life Time Achievement Award last year.
