Ice Dogs block Bears

The Sydney Bears have gone down 6-2 in a rough encounter against the Sydney Ice Dogs at Sydney Ice Arena, Baulkham Hills.

The Bears opened the scoring through a Sean Hamilton Steen slapshot at 5min 39sec in the first period, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

The Ice Dogs were quick to respond, David Dunwoodie nailing a rebound at 9:19 before the Ice Dogs took the lead through Mitch Bye at 11:46. The Ice Dogs made it 3-1 at 13:07, John Clewlow finding the net with a slapshot from the high slot.

The Bears needed to be first to score in the second period and they did so, Steen grabbing his second on a power play at 4:06.

That was as good as it got for the Bears, as Richard Tesaric grabbed his own power play goal at 11:04 to make it 4-2 heading into the final period.

The Ice Dogs didn't let up in the period, as John Clewlow added his second at 5:49 and then his hat-trick goal at 15:12.

The Bears' next match is against the Newcastle North Stars, at Sydney Ice Arena, on Sunday. Puck drop is at 3.30pm.
