We could soon see a tram on the main streets of The Hills again.
On Tuesday, Premier Mike Baird announced his government would fund a feasibility study to bring light rail to The Hills, connecting to Castle Hill, Parramatta and the city.
The first tram arrived in The Hills in 1910 and the last tram ran in the early 1930s.

"The light rail is essentially not that dissimilar to a tram," Baulkham Hills MP David Elliott said.
"The reason the tram was ripped up in 1932 was because it was costing the state £1700 a year.
"Because [a tram] can jointly be used on a road it would suggest to me light rail would be similar.
"Given that Parramatta boasts Hills residents as its single-biggest employment source, I think there is a very compelling case to have a light rail or tram service in The Hills.
"I'm prepared to have a public debate."
But The Hills mayor Michelle Byrne said the feasibility study must consider Carlingford.
"The residents and businesses of Carlingford are used to disappointment when it comes to public transport — but it doesn't have to be this way," Cr Byrne said.
"I would certainly support a Western Sydney Light Rail line which the Premier has referred
to as the missing link. But I would only support
it if Carlingford is part of the network."
Cr Byrne said that with only one train to Clyde every hour and infrequent bus services, Carlingford's 21,000 residents were severely under-serviced by public transport.
Parramatta lord mayor John Chedid said his council's light rail study had identified potential stops along a two-line network: a Macquarie Park line and a Castle Hill line.
"From Parramatta, the Castle Hill line follows Windsor Road to Baulkham Hills and through the Castle Hill trading zone to Castle Hill and interchange to the North West Rail Link," Cr Chedid said.
The corridors to be investigated, with potentially a number of options for each route, include:
■ Parramatta to Macquarie Park via Carlingford;
■ Parramatta to Castle Hill via Old Northern Road;
■ Parramatta to Liverpool via the T-way;
■ Parramatta to Rouse Hill;
■ Parramatta to Ryde via Victoria Road;
■ Parramatta to Sydney CBD via Parramatta Road;
■ Parramatta to Macquarie Park via Eastwood (proposed by Parramatta Council);
■ Parramatta to Castle Hill via Windsor Road (proposed by Parramatta Council).
