The Hills Council will transfer its eight SES vehicles — which are insured for $669,861 — to the NSW SES, as required under the NSW government’s Strategic Disaster Readiness Package.

Councils can transfer ownership by gift, nominal fee or market value.

The Hills Council chose market value and have also included $51,500 in the Draft 2014-15 Budget for replacement of a Toyota Prado.

A council report said the SES vehicles owned by the council were ‘‘in excellent condition’’ and if a transfer price could’t be agreed on, SES NSW would buy new vehicles for the SES Unit leaving the council free to use or dispose of the vehicles as they saw fit.
