Thinking of heading to the hair salon soon?
Why not book it for Sunday, July 27.
Royals Hair and Beauty in Castle Towers will be one of 29 salons from across Australia donating all their proceeds on the day to Hagar as part of Style for Life.
Style for Life is a fund-raising event launched by Hagar in partnership with ELEVEN Australia to help raise funds for women and children who have survived human rights abuses including rape, paedophilia and modern slavery.
Salon manager Mary Alamine said the fund-raising day was lots of fun.
"The staff get really excited about it," she said. "Everybody takes part, clients know what's going on as well.
"Everybody wants to put in their all for the cause."
Hagar is an international non-profit charity that devotes its time to helping survivors restore their lives. They help by either assisting them to find a job or paving the way to access education.
Hagar currently gives aid to 1500 survivors from three different countries: Cambodia, Afghanistan and Vietnam.
"Victims of trafficking, sexual abuse . . . any kind of abuse really and they help get their life back on track," Ms Alamine said.
"They tailor for what everybody needs."
Last year Style for Life raised $21,000 for Hagar with the help of 12 salons.
Organisers hope to double that this year.
