BAULKHAM Hills MP David Elliott hosted local Justices of the Peace to mark their 50 years of service to the community.

Mr Elliott said the record of service to the community without thought of self gain was a demonstration of the sense of community in The Hills.

Mr Elliott also said he found public service a strong theme throughout the stories of each of the JPs in attendance, from military and defence services through to local agricultural services.

Black Dog Ride

Kellyville resident Geoff Bishop will join 70 other motorbike riders to travel around Australia from Saturday, July 26 to Tuesday, August 26 to help raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention.

This is for the Black Dog Ride, an independent not-for-profit organisation that has raised over $1.3 million for mental health since it was founded in 2009.

Mr Bishop hopes to highlight workplace depression, as he feels it is something that most people are not aware of, with many opting to suffer in silence.

Funds raised during this year's ride will go to Lifeline Australia.
