Hornsby MP Matt Kean joined teachers and students at Glenorie Public School for a memorial service to remember teacher Giulia Lo Grasso.
Mrs Lo Grasso was a much loved teacher at Glenorie Public School for over 20 years before she was killed in a car crash earlier this year.
Mr Kean said the memorial service attended by over 100 people was a fitting tribute to Mrs Lo Grasso who served the school community in a number of roles as a multicultural leader and an Italian community languages teacher.
Mrs Lo Grasso was a well known in the local Glenorie area and will be dearly missed by her husband son and many friends.
To honour her memory the students unveiled a plaque in honour of Mrs Lo Grasso’s service to the school, while each class planted an olive tree along the school path.
Mrs Lo Grasso was appointed to Glenorie Public School in 1994, working on several different grades.
In 2004 she retired only to take up the position of Italian teacher, which she continued for a further 10 years until 2014.
