Exotic birds stolen from Kellyville Pets store

Police are looking for two blue and gold macaw birds worth $7000 each stolen from Kellyville Pets last night.

Thieves broke into the Windsor Road store at 9.30pm and used bolt cutters to break into the bird aviary.

Security camera footage showed silhouettes of two men taking the exotic birds and leaving the building.

The blue and gold birds named Zazu and Kiaria are both one-year-old .

Kellyville Pets spokeswoman Jes Jonkmans said she now fears for the birds wellbeing as the breed can get anxious when separated.

‘‘These are a bonded pair and when separated they may become stressed and hurt themselves,’’ Ms Jonkman said.

Ms Jonkman said this was the second theft at the store in six months.

‘‘Unfortunately there’s a big black market for exotic birds and backyard thefts are happening a lot across The Hills and western Sydney."
