SOPHIE Angeloudis of Baulkham Hills has been shortlisted for Girlfriend magazine's annual Rimmel model search.
The 16-year-old student, who is 172 cm tall, said she was both "happy and shocked" to receive the phone call announcing she would progress to the next round.
Sophie said her idol was Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr, who also had her break in modelling after entering a magazine competition.
"I look up to Miranda Kerr," Sophie said. "The way she has pursued her career, she's not scandalous and has made her own business and had her own family."
Sophie, who is Greek-Australian, has the full support of her family.
"If I won, I wouldn't be able to speak for a while," she said.
"If not, I will continue studying and maybe go to uni to become a teacher."
The competition, which launched the careers of international models Abbey Lee Kershaw and Samantha Harris, will announce the six state finalists at Westfield Parramatta at 1.30pm on Saturday, after a catwalk parade starting at 9am.
