HE'S supported Delta Goodrem, Shannon Noll and Jimmy Barnes, but Steve Edmonds (pictured) also plays a legendary rock guitarist in a tribute show.
The former guitar teacher from Kellyville is the frontman of the Steve Edmonds Band Jimi Hendrix Tribute Show — a two part blues-rock experience which he describes as "a heartfelt tribute to the great music and imagery of Jimi Hendrix and a tribute to the great guitar songs and bands of the '70s".
Part one, he said, will take you back in time and recreate classic Hendrix songs, such as Voodoo Chile, Foxy Lady and Little Wing. Part two is a dedication to the classic rock songs of the '70s, including songs by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and The Doors.
"I've been performing for 20-odd years and I enjoy entertaining all people," Edmonds said.
"In my shows, the set and sound is constantly updated [in] the pursuit of excellence."
Edmonds has released two original albums, Home Made and Medium Cool, and has a third on the way.
The tribute band is a chance to play a "ground-breaking artist . . . so far ahead of his time", whom he has admired from a very young age, he said.
"His [Hendrix's] music touches you in so many different ways," Edmonds said. "He is truly an iconic figure, with the artistry to back it up."
